Governor's lodge

The Governor’s Lodge was rebuilt during the 15th century when Count Jean de Valois, François 1er’s grandfather, made it his main residence. It has kept that name ever since 1602 as this part of the Château was in fact the residence of the Governor of the region. Inside the courtyard, near the Gothic doorway, the mullioned windows of the bedroom where François 1er was born can be seen.
