Stringent regulations

Cognac is made from the wine eaux-de-vie from the Cognac region crafted according to a method and to extremely stringent regulations specific to cognac.Stringent and permanent controls are implemented to guarantee the quality of the cognac AOC (Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée).

The House of Otard, however, with its extremely strict quality criteria, is even more demanding, in distillation or ageing, for example, in order to obtain the finest Cognacs.

Cognac or brandy?

Brandy and cognac both come from wine eaux-de-vie.
Cognac can be used only for the eaux-de-vie from the wines of the Cognac region in France.
In other words, all Cognacs are brandies, but not all brandies are Cognacs.
