The Castle of Cognac

Does the Château de Cognac still belong to the Otard family? Is it a private château?

Does the Château de Cognac still belong to the Otard family? Is it a private château?

The Château de Cognac was made a national asset during the French Revolution in 1789. After the Revolution, the Château was put up for sale and bought in 1796 by Baron Otard and his partners, the Dupuy d'Angeac brothers, to set up the Otard Dupuy Company. In 1930, the Château passed into the hands of a Cognac family. Today, it is owned by the BACARDI Group. It is therefore a private asset.
